How Doctor Mozart supplements other method books

This page will help you coordinate Doctor Mozart theory workbooks with other methods and programs, including the Royal Conservatory, CMTA, Alfred, Faber, and ABRSM.

Royal Conservatory Preliminary Theory

All required topics are covered by Doctor Mozart Levels 1 through 3. Use Doctor Mozart for superior results.

Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC) Certificate Level 3

All required topics, and more, are covered by Doctor Mozart Levels 1 through 3.

ABRSM

If you normally follow the ABRSM program, you can use Doctor Mozart as a supplement, for superior results. We suggest you assign 1 to 5 pages per week as homework, depending on the student. Some students enjoy Doctor Mozart so much that they choose to work ahead on their own initiative.

You should not be concerned if the order of the topics in Doctor Mozart does not correspond exactly with the order of topics in the ABRSM program. Just let your students progress through Doctor Mozart workbooks at their own speed. They will benefit enormously from the in-depth instruction, and the reinforcement of topics you have covered in your lessons.

Most topics in Doctor Mozart are self-explanatory, though some may need a brief introduction in the lesson. Younger children may need to have a parent nearby while using the workbook, for clarification or encouragement.

For your reference, the following chart shows where ABRSM topics can be found in Doctor Mozart workbooks. Note that Doctor Mozart covers a wider range of topics, in greater depth. This chart does not show the entire contents of the Doctor Mozart series.
